Home Decor Inspiration ..........

Hi all, it's Lynsey here with some home decor inspiration to share with you today.  This is an mdf heart that I covered with pretty papers, I added the sentiment which I used by die cutting letters from green card stock.  I added some flowers and pearls for embellishment and then for the perfect finishing touch I added some beautiful chantilly cotton lace.

I hope this has inspired you to have a go at some home decor for your home.
Thanks for stopping by.

Train Flags

Hi Laura here today for some lay time!  A question for you...  what do you do when the cows start walking on the train track?

I don't know how you deal with these situations but we made some flags to warn Thomas and his friends...

Arthur knows to be carefully because the cow flag is flying...

And Edward knows the farmer is around in is tractor.

Arthur knows when to stop and when it is safe to go again.

I know, a little crazy but very cute, don't you think?  Little one loves his train track and always brings a rucksack full of trains with him.  He has a stop and go flag set at home but we needed some flags for here at Granny, Grandad and Laura's house.

They are really simple to make - half a drinking straw, between 2-3 inches (5-7.5 cm) of ribbon and some double sided sticky tape.  I use the strong red-backed tape as I know with this tape little fingers will not destroy the flags in 2 seconds flat!!  All my ribbon is from Crafty Ribbons.  You can find the cows here and the tractors here!

Have a good day folks, and don't forget to make time to play!

A summer top

I made this top for a sale in support to an association to help young pupils in their studies in Burkina Faso. They gave wax fabric and I create this summer top!

I am using 35mm satin ribbon as straps and embellishment. A french journalist bought it so I am very proud!

Rainbow Notebook

Hi Laura here to day sharing a bright and colourful note book cover.

This is what I started with.  It is a very thick sturdy board front - it needs to be thick as I will be adding a fair bit of weight.  It was rather orange too so I added a few coats of gesso to neutralise it.

From then on it was just playing with buttons!  I lined up different sizes to minimise the gaps and suck them down with pin flair glue gel.  A glue gun would also work a treat but as I've said before - I can't be trusted with a glue gun!

It's quite important to have the edges as flush as possible so the buttons don't get caught and ping off.  Having said that, I made it a few years ago and all the buttons are still in place.

Anything goes as far as a pattern - I went rainbow but you could do an initial, a heart, a star, sports team colours...

You can find these buttons here along with a large range of others.  I used; turquoise, shocking, scarlet, orange, lemon and lime.

Thanks for stopping by!

Celebrating National Scrapbook Day with Ribbon!

Hi Guys, Laura here today.  Yesterday was National Scrapbook Day.  Lots of celebrations, challenges and inspiration started on Friday and continue through today, and some on to the end of the month.  I, for one, am keen to see more ribbon in scrapbooking.

I made this layout for a few challenges - one to use no patterned paper, one to include poetry and hearts, and the other to use ribbon.  I picked out the exclusive multicoloured Organza Swiss Dot ribbons and sieved through my button stash for some complimentary buttons.  I made some little rosettes/prize ribbons by folding small pieces of ribbon and sewing a button on top.

You can find the Swiss Dot ribbons here and a huge range of buttons here.
