Planner Bookmark

Hi folks, Laura here today sharing my latest planner accessory.

I've taken a couple of big buttons, 3 inches of elastic and some of my favourite ribbon; grosgrain Swiss dots.  I chose the ribbon and buttons to match the front of my Pirongs planner.

I attached the stripey button to one end of the ribbon with a few stitches of blingy old thread.  On the other end of the ribbon, I attached the spotty button and the loop of elastic.  Then simply wrap the ribbon around the planner and hook the stretchy loop over the stripey button.  I also added a length of the same ribbon to the spiral binding using a larks head knot to use as a bookmark.

The buttons I chose are 34mm wide and you can find them here and here.

Poppy Hair Clip Holder

Hi Folks,  Laura here with a quick hair clip holder.

I've recently had a haircut and I am, apparently, unable to buy just two of something... I must have every colour!  So I needed a way to store these new accessories.

I pulled out some Swiss Dots ribbons in colours to match the Spring Ribbons Poppies and set to work.

I used two barbeque skewers to give the Poppy ribbon some stability and hung lengths of grosgrain between them.  A few stitches here and there to secure things was all it took.  I added some 3mm grosgrain to hang the holder and added a couple of mini bows as a finishing touch.

When you miss gift wrap...

When you miss gift wrap...
and you just have brown paper, you could add ribbons and your present is more fun!

Good for books, boxes...
I weaved different sizes and matched ribbons for it.

I used  poppies ribbon, mini heart ribbons and swiss dots ribbons. A big bow is good too!

Scrapping with ribbon...

Hi folks, Laura here today.  Since I made this layout I have had half a stamped and painted image sat on my desk.  As you know, I don't like to throw anything away, so I designed this layout around it!

My only other criteria was 'use lots of ribbon!' and I managed to sneak some lace and sequins in too - life is hard!!

You an get your hands on the ribbons here: hearts and dots and you can find the teal ribbon and lilac lace on the Crafty Ribbons show stand - yes it is nearly show time again.

Thanks for looking!

Wonderful You | Scrapbook page

Hi there, Laura here today with a scrapbook page.

I started out wanting to use my new Distress Oxide ink pad.  I pulled out a stamp and some watercolour paper and had a good play!

I liked the results so I gathered some supplies to match the background - a few papers, some stickers and sequins, bits and bobs from the June Lottie Loves Paper kit and ribbon.

Nothing made it on to the layout if it wasn't white or mint.

I sat my title on a ruffle of white organza ribbon - it adds such fab texture and height to the page.

I also added some Swiss Dot Grosgrain and a little heart tab made from the exclusive Wedding Owls ribbon.

Fairy Jar

Hello, Laura here today.  I have something a little out of the ordinary to share with you today...

It's a ribbon fairy in a jar of mushrooms!  Bear with me here...  ;)

The first thing I thought of when I saw the Spring Ribbon Mushrooms was fairies.  I decided to try and make a miniature fairy to live among the mushrooms.

I've used a couple of beads for her head and body, 2mm silk ribbon for her arms and legs, seam binding and silk ribbon for her skirt and lace for her wings.

I also made a couple of mushrooms from Swiss Dot grosgrain and wire stems.  I suspended the fairy on a thread so it looks like she is flying.

Totally bonkers but so much fun!

Baby Socks!

Hi Chaps!  Laura here today to share a new baby gift and wrapping idea...

I picked a caterpillar and butterfly button from the Basics 2 Go pastel garden mix and pulled out some Lime Juice organza Swiss dot from the Baby Washing range.  I made simple bows and attached the button securely over the top with contrasting thread to a pair of new born socks.

I wrapped up with some spotty tissue paper and white and sunshine swiss dot ribbon.  I hand lettered a tiny tag with watercolours and attached with a length of 3mm satin ribbon.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Ribbon Ice Cream?!

Hi, Laura here today.

A few years back Ali (Crafty Ribbons owner) made some adorable ribbon cupcakes.  They planted a seed in my mind... what about a ribbon ice cream cone?  A few years have past, but the idea hung on and has now come to fruition...

The cone is made by pinning Swiss dot ribbon in 'tan and white' to a polystyrene cone.

It always takes me a long time to decide what flavour to pick when I buy a cone, and true to form it took a long while to decide which ribbons to use!  I settled on Raspberry ripple and used a collection of pink ribbon in both grosgrain and organza Swiss dots.

These were also pinned to polystyrene - I cut a ball in half to give me a scoop type shape.  As I pinned I twisted to give the look of ice cream from a Mr Whippy machine.

I hope you like this creation...  I'm quite hungry now... off for an ice cream I think!

mr and mrs

Hi Guys, Laura here today.  I can't make a mini album without including ribbon!  This time I have used Swiss Dots and Grosgrain 3mm in colours to match the 'Wish List' kit from like for ever.

I have made the mini album to celebrate a friends wedding, but the photos were not brilliant quality.  This gave me the idea to go small, which reminded me I had a little tin saved to upcycle...

I made a concertina strip to fit the little tin.  I adhered a piece of ribbon to the bottom edge of the tin to use as a tab - a little pull and the album pops out of the tin.

Then to finish it all off nicely I tied the tin with 3mm ribbon and added a handmade charm.  The charm includes glass beads hand made by the bride for that extra personal touch.

You can see more here and here!

Button Bauble

Hello, Laura here today.  Do you ever feel like making something really colourful?  I did, and this happened...

First of all I coloured a polystyrene ball with some promarkers.  I wasn't a perfect rainbow but that didn't matter as most of it would be covered.  The bits that peep through look nicer if the are roughly the right colour rather than white.  Then I got my entire button stash out and played around, picking the right colours and sizes and generally having fun.

When I had what I wanted laid out I started gluing them to the polystyrene with glue gel.  I stopped half way to let the glue dry.  This way I didn't have to worry about smudging and getting glue all over my fingers.  When the first half was dry I flipped it upside down and carried on.

To hang it I used a piece of swiss dot grosgrain and used both pins and glue gel to attach it.

All the buttons I used, along with the ribbon, are from Crafty Ribbons.

Thanks for stopping by!

Dream Catcher

Hi, it's Laura here today with a ribbon-y dream catcher.
This is the most enjoyable project I have made in a while!  Isn't it fun?!

To make one you'll need a selection of ribbons and the inside of a roll of sticky tape!

I added strings of buttons and lace to my ribbon dangles.  I added some vellum feathers to the end of some of the ribbons.

The tape roll (I uses the inside of a 3mm double sided roll) is simply wrapped in ribbon until it is covered.  Then to make the web I followed some instructions I found online.  It is quite simple when you get going, but describing it is pretty tricky!

Here is a list of the ribbons and laces I used - all from Crafty Ribbons.

Chantilly Anna Lace
Chantilly Mollie Lace
Organza Swiss Dot White/White
3mm Island Blue
3mm Petal Peach
3mm Peach
3mm Blue Vapour
Swiss Dot Blue Vapour
Swiss Dot Island Blue/Peach
Heart Buttons
Basic Buttons Pastel
Basic Buttons Mixed
Basic Buttons Baby Blue

If there is enough interest I will put together a step by step guide... just leave me a comment or contact me through social media!

Altering Ribbon Colour

Hi, Laura here today.  I'm not a card maker, but what I'm showing you is the grey ribbon...

The grey ribbon used to be white.  It's available in the Roses Ribbon Pack.  I altered it with half a drop of India ink mixed in to some water.  Have a small test on an off cut first but most ribbons take colour really well.

I added some Swiss Dots ribbon too, a sequin and a couple of hearts and I was done.

Thanks for stopping by!
